Job Title: Forklift Service Technician
Position Reports To: Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly
  • This is a permanent, full-time position that is eligible for enrollment in company benefits after 60 days and 40 hours Vacation after 90 days
  • 7:00am-4:00pm Monday - Friday, Possible Saturdays January-April
  • 7:00am – 4:00pm May- December 6 days a week, if needed

Position Purpose Summary: This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating, machine tools, material-handling system, and automated lubrication system. You will be expected to ensure that equipment and machinery are in proper operating condition to maximize production and minimize down time.

Principal Job Responsibilities :
  • Utilize tool room equipment such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press, and welding equipment.
  • Proper use of micrometers calipers and dial indicators.
  • Perform installation and set-up of new equipment.
  • Operate forklift when required.
  • Work with FIXX system to record work orders and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions.
  • Assist mechanical engineer to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components, (such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, hydraulics, and mechanics.)
  • Track and perform continuous improvement (lean) activities.
  • Ordering and maintaining stock parts and repair parts as needed
  • Repair and maintain all lift equipment, diagnosis, and troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Track part orders, invoices, and future scheduled service on rental equipment
  • Obtain quotes and service recommendation to Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure OSHA compliance on man lifts and all other equipment
  • Sanitizing Equipment after service performed to ensure GMP Food safety
  • Ensure proper use of equipment-water and charging procedures

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all standard measuring equipment including the proper use of micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to read and write and to follow detailed written instructions.
  • Ability to complete fabrication projects from drawings by using tool room equipment, such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press, and welding equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hands and hand tools (welding, wrenches, etc.) in mechanically oriented situation.
  • Motivated self-starter works well independently as well as with a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and logical problem solver.

Education and Experience:

  • High Diploma, preferred GED Equivalent
  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • Forklift Certifications a plus
  • Forklift License (Obtained through OPC Arbre Farms)
Physical Demands of the Position:
  • While performing the duties of the position, the employee must be able to use manual dexterity required for using hand tools and operating machinery; Able to lift up to 30 pounds; must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods; experience extensive walking and standing; vision/hearing/talking; repeating motion (hands/wrists); bending and stooping
Work Environment:
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to wet and slippery floors, occasionally moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud; Variable temperatures of both heat and cold. 20% normal office environment with 80% manufacturing environment.
