Job Description Summary

The Connected Aircraft Navigation Systems Product Manager will be responsible for the Flight Management Systems (FMS) Product Line. You will partner with sales, engineering, contracts, finance, marketing and program management to build and manage product and investment strategy for your assigned products, collect voice of the customer, identify product differentiation, build roadmaps, capture internal & external funding, capture new development programs, manage product development, deliver financial results and identify and develop product offerings for the business.

You will partner with your fellow product managers to support the entire Connected Aircraft portfolio. This will include sharing workload as proposal and program activity drives peaks and valleys across the portfolio. One program that you will be responsible for immediately is the Boeing 737 FMS update.

Note: The preferred location for this role is at the Grand Rapids, Michigan or Clearwater, FL, but remote work within the United States may be considered based on candidate qualifications.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain , and update product line strategy and roadmaps using the "What Game are you Playing / How do you Win" and M ulti- Generational Product Plan models, present at regularly scheduled reviews and own / delegate assigned action items

  • Partner with Sales and Customer Account Managers to engage with customers ahead of potential opportunities to influence solicitations in our favor through industry events, technical interchange meetings, presentations and demonstrations

  • Partner with sales to seek out new opportunities for the product line, identifying proposed solutions that solves customer problems , develop win strategy and price to win utilizing industry knowledge and competitive intelligence , and supporting Gate Reviews

  • Lead cross-functional team to deliver assigned proposals, working with engineering to develop a job analysis, review proposal responses and support reviews, provide direction to pricing, review Ts&Cs with contracts, capture CAPEX needs, and collaborating with Comm Ops on the overall schedule

  • Lead cross-functional team to execute assigned programs, acting as customer interface for the business and leading the Integrated Product Team

  • Own the investment planning for the product line and manage IR&D projects, partnering with engineering to identify development needs, prioritizing based on product strategy, roadmap, and near-term opportunities, holding regular reviews and supporting leadership reviews

  • Seek out external investments in the product line through Science & Technology and early customer engagement for proof of concept and product validation opportunities

  • Develop and maintain external partnerships and enrich relationships to fill gaps in product line and technologies and lead make/buy decisions

  • Be the premier knowledge source for market intelligence for your product area by regularly reviewing industry news and collecting information on the market and competition, conducting regular comprehensive assessments of the industry and competition

  • Coordinate with programs and sales to review, maintain and validate the product pipeline

  • Ownership of product line marketing collateral including presentation material, website, and standard presentation material

  • Partner with application engineering to develop and maintain IP strategy for product line and conduct IP strategy reviews for patents in key technologies

  • Manage financials for the product line, including validation of actuals and future forecasting

  • Provide regular weekly and monthly updates to leadership on activity progress

  • Execute responsibilities using standard work

  • Be a FLIGHT DECK practitioner

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in avionics in roles such as product, program, systems, or engineering

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status

Desired Characteristics

  • Typically, 7-10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combinations of skills, impact, and potential.

  • Strong knowledge of systems, hardware and/or software design

  • Prior experience with Flight Management Systems or aircraft systems
