IATF Quality Engineer | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $81,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the IATF 16949 Quality Management System and associated procedures.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (e.g., 8D) for internal and external quality issues.
• Develop, implement, and maintain APQP deliverables including FMEAs, Control Plans, MSA, and PPAPs.
• Conduct internal and supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
• Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and validate effectiveness of actions.
• Interface with customers and suppliers on quality-related concerns, specifications, and problem resolution.

Recommended Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge and practical application of IATF 16949 standard requirements.
• Proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Demonstrated expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• IATF 16949 Internal or Lead Auditor certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with manufacturing experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
• Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab) for advanced data analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE)
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification
• Experience with QMS software implementation or administration (e.g., SAP QM, ETQ Reliance)
