Irrigation Specialist / Irrigation Technician

Location: Oak Park, MI

About the Role

We’re an established complete grounds maintenance company located in Oak Park, MI serving all of Metro Detroit for the last 40+ years currently in need of an irrigation specialist.

You’ll be tasked with testing, diagnosing, and repairing existing systems and occasionally installing new zones, but seldom will need to install completely new systems as our irrigation business is mostly around servicing our commercial contracts and residential fertilizing customers.

Responsibilities

● Perform spring turn-ons and winterizations

● Program irrigation controllers

● Inspect and adjust the systems to ensure they perform efficiently while providing adequate coverage

● Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems

● Maintain assigned vehicle and/or equipment in good working order.

● Stock service vehicle with proper parts and tools

● Properly complete paperwork on work performed in a timely manner (everyday)

● Interact with homeowners, property guests, clients, and the public in a friendly and polite manner

Requirements

● Ability to troubleshoot and repair commercial / residential irrigation systems (minimum one year experience)

● Ability to rewire and program controllers

● Ability to work alone and manage your own time – will have additional crew members for larger jobs

● Ability to perform physical work in various weather conditions

● Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds & walk long distances

● Ability to crouch/kneel and work at ground level for extended periods of time

● Valid driver's license

Experience and License Requirements

● No License Requirement

● Experience in diagnosing and repairing irrigation systems, 1 year min.

● Experience with large commercial systems preferred

● Experience repairing landscape lighting systems a plus

● Previous experience in a customer service role a plus

Work Schedule

● You’ll work Monday to Friday, up to 10-hour shifts (with overtime in the peak season), starting between 6:00 and 7:00 am depending on the season. Your workday is finished when the route is complete, which is around 8-10 hours, but this can vary.

● We provide transportation from our site in Oak Park to job sites. You’ll drive a work van from the shop to the job sites.
