Company: Steel Tool & Engineering Co. (Aerospace Precision Machining & Fabrication)
Location: Trenton, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary
Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
About UsSteel Tool & Engineering is a leading aerospace manufacturer delivering precision machining, complex metal fabrication, and welded assemblies. We operate an AS9100‑certified and NADCAP‑accredited facility, committed to quality, reliability, and compliance.
A Day in This RoleStart of Day: You begin by updating and maintaining the Master Specification within our eCAV system, confirming that every specification is current and aligned to customer and internal standards. You organize documentation for new part introductions, including VSE (SPS) customer packages, review submittals, and track character accountability for each drawing characteristic.
Mid-Morning: You coordinate document control for engineering drawings—verifying accuracy, updating revisions, and ensuring controlled access. As the reviewer for approved process compliance, you back up inspection activities as needed, perform work center and process audits, and provide SPS package support. During inspections on steel tools, components, and materials, you identify and document defects and recommend corrective actions while preserving an accurate audit trail.
Afternoon: You handle receiving inspection administration by uploading and verifying material certifications and Certificates of Conformance (CofCs), then releasing compliant materials into the crib per purchase order and specification requirements. You draft professional correspondence on behalf of Quality Assurance and Engineering Managers, collaborate with production and engineering to resolve issues, and complete timely data entry to support quality tracking and production systems.
Throughout the Day: You sustain eCAV maintenance, support PFAI efforts, serve as a submittal reviewer, and engage cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in quality, flow, and efficiency.
