High level summary of job
We are seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to design, test, and implement packaging solutions that are integral to our product development process. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate closely with Procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure our packaging meets company standards and product requirements.
Essential functions of the job
- Packaging Design & Development
- Design and develop robust packaging systems for polysilicon and associated chemical products, ensuring protection, containment, and compatibility with hazardous materials.
- Material Selection & Testing
- Conduct performance testing, chemical compatibility assessments, and cost analyses to select materials that meet durability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Procurement, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS&S, and external suppliers to define packaging specifications and source compliant materials.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all packaging solutions comply with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and international hazardous materials regulations, as well as internal safety and quality standards.
- Sustainability & Waste Reduction
- Support corporate sustainability goals by identifying opportunities to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability, and optimize material usage.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain detailed documentation of packaging designs, test results, and change controls. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance packaging performance and efficiency.

- Lead small project teams to accomplish project goals
- Identify opportunities for improvement for both internal and external customers
- Participate on Six Sigma Projects or as a RCI member (as required)

Education Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
- Technical Skills
- Knowledge of materials science, including plastics, metals, and paper; proficiency in CAD software and packaging testing methodologies are a plus.
- Experience
- Previous experience in packaging design and development, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Soft Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Work Experience
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field

The range for this position is $79,440 - $109,500 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, variable bonus, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
