Major Gift Officer

: The Major Gifts Officer The Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors for the Zoo to support fundraising initiatives, projects, and capital campaigns; maintains the major gifts fundraising momentum post-campaign. This role focuses on major gift pipeline development for gifts of significance, managing a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual donors to meet annual goals. The Major Gifts Officer plans, implements, and coordinates effective multi-year strategies and tactic to focus on funds ranging from $500.00 to 7- figure gifts for the Zoo. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER AT JBZ The major gift officer will manage a portfolio of around 80+ individuals and corporate and foundation donors, complete 60-100 donor visits and 180-300 pipeline moves annually. They will maintain an annual fundraising goal for major gifts and a goal for bequest notifications and planned gift intentions, all while working within a budget and recommending/meeting fundraising goals. Organize and maintain donor lists, solicitations, progress reports, and solicitor status. Manage campaign calendar, including sending reminders and scheduling meetings and calls. Support capital campaign cabinet, board members, and staff, working closely with the entire fundraising department. All while handling all other duties that might be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB TITLE AT JBZ We are looking for someone with a strong affinity for the mission and values of the John Ball Zoo. Someone who demonstrates the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with fundraising constituents. The ability to work in cross-functional teams, and be able to work a flexing work week due to events and other requirements. We are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree or five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving.
