Fabricator/Finisher/Welder

The Fabricator/Finisher will assemble, join, fabricate, and repair metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques. He/she will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine an appropriate welding process. In addition, Operates grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. on to surfaces. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies

2. Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions

3. Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts.

4. Design, fabricate, join, fit/tack, and repair equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using various welding techniques.

5. Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools.

6. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

7. Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments/techniques. Grinds, sands and polishes the product in the most time efficient and cost effective manner as evidenced by department standards.

8. Responsible for checking all dimensions per the blue print as evidenced by additional measuring and reading of the blue print.

9. Completes the finishing of the product to ensure the appearance meets or exceeds the company standards as evidenced by the final inspection before shipping to the customer.

10. Assists in Assembly as requested by supervisor as evidenced by the production schedule and deadlines.

11. Deliver and distribute all finished products to assembly as evidenced by the traveler.

12. Process job orders in a timely and accurate manner as evidenced by the completed traveler with appropriate job number.

13. Logs into the shop management computer system to allow for an accurate accounting of time spent on a particular job as evidenced by labor reports produced by the E2 system.

14. Responsible to clean up area at the end of each shift as evidenced by supervisor's observation.

15. Assists in shop maintenance to include but not limited to sweeping shop floors, cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash containers as evidenced by supervisor's observation.

16. Other duties as required by supervisor.

• Have knowledge of welding techniques, tools and equipment.

• Use proper safety and protective equipment utilized during welding assignments.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and various forms of instrumentation

• Prior experience with metal fabrication

• Mechanical and technical skills

• Skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures.

• Strong math skills required to be used in measuring the work process.

Education and Experience

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.

• May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.

• May require 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

12. Demonstrated ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality
