Business Development Director - Automotive
Position Title: Director of Business Development – Automotive Sector
Role Overview:
An established global engineering and mobility technology organization is seeking a results-driven business development professional with deep experience in the U.S. automotive market. This position focuses on building and expanding relationships with OEMs, driving strategic growth in engineering and software-related services across vehicle and powertrain development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead efforts to grow engineering service sales in areas such as vehicle and propulsion systems, software, and intelligent mobility solutions
Develop new relationships and strengthen existing partnerships with automotive manufacturers and key industry stakeholders
Craft and implement business strategies tailored to evolving customer and market needs within the automotive landscape
Identify and pursue new revenue streams through networking, direct engagement, and participation in relevant trade shows and conferences
Collaborate with technical teams to align proposals with customer expectations and ensure high-quality delivery
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 8 years of experience in business development or technical sales within the automotive sector
Well-established professional network with strong industry connections in the U.S. automotive market
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of operating independently while meeting objectives within a collaborative team structure
Preferred Experience:
Over 10 years of experience in mobility or automotive engineering services
Background in selling engineering or testing services, especially related to propulsion or powertrain systems
Familiarity with intelligent mobility and software-driven technologies
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
The role involves a combination of office-based and customer-facing activities. Typical physical requirements include frequent sitting, standing, and communication, along with occasional lifting of light materials (5–10 lbs). Candidates should be able to focus visually at varying distances and maintain attention in a moderately active work environment. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
