Job Description

This position serves as an electronic equipment technician in the implementation of technology and automation initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing toll equipment, data communications and related equipment. Perform network support activities, including cable installation. Participate in the development and implementation of software and hardware including, but not limited to, evaluating and recommending appropriate hardware and software, developing office automation applications, testing software, training staff on effective

use of deployed software, etc.

This position requires possession of a valid driver's license to perform wind escorts over the Mackinac Bridge.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (8) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E10) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of an associate degree in electrical, electromechanical, or electronics engineering, computer science, engineering, or electronics technology.

Experience

Equipment Technician 8

No specific type or amount is required.

Equipment Technician 9

One year of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment equivalent to an Equipment Technician 8.

Equipment Technician E10

Two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and electronic equipment equivalent to an Equipment Technician, including one year equivalent to an Equipment Technician 9.

Alternate Education and Experience

Equipment Technician 8 - 12Completion of 60 semester (90 term) credits including 24 semester (36 term) credits in any combination of course work in the following areas: electrical, electromechanical, or electronics engineering, electronics technology, computer science, highway or traffic technology, engineering, or mathematics may be substituted for the education requirement. A certificate from a two year, post-secondary, technical program in electrical, electromechanical, or electronics technology may be substituted for the education requirement. Four years of experience in the installation,

maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment may be substituted for the education requirement.

Equipment Technician E10Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
