Campus Safety Supervisor (Part-Time, Overnight)

The Campus Safety Supervisor (part-time, overnight) provides supervision and leadership to Campus Safety Officers during non-business hours, ensuring the ongoing safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and campus facilities. The Supervisor is responsible for emergency response, officer oversight, and maintaining a safe and Christ-centered campus environment during overnight operations. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.

CLASSIFICATION: Regular Part-Time (29 hours per week, may include weekends and holidays)

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Michigan

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise Campus Safety Officers on overnight shifts, ensuring effective coverage and responsiveness.
• Conduct routine patrols of campus grounds, buildings, and residence halls by foot or vehicle.
• Respond promptly to safety concerns, disturbances, medical calls, and other emergencies.
• Enforce university policies, including parking, access control, and behavioral standards.
• Serve as the primary contact for overnight safety concerns and coordinate with local authorities as needed.
• Write and review detailed incident reports and maintain accurate shift records.
• Monitor security systems, alarms, and communication channels during the overnight hours.
• Provide training, support, and leadership to officers on shift.
• Maintain a calm and professional presence, especially during crisis situations.
• All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous experience in campus safety, security, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team, especially in off-hours settings.
• Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to remain alert and responsive throughout overnight shifts.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
