Job Details – CVOR Surgical First Assistant Travel Position

• Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (Southwest Michigan healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel (Locum Tenens)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour (07:00 - 17:30) or 8-hour (07:00 - 15:30)
• Hours per Week: 40 (guaranteed)
• Call Requirement: 12-18 days/month
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2500 - $2560 per week

Qualifications – OR Tech / CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant

• Active Michigan surgical technologist license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting
• STFA (Surgical Technologist First Assistant) or RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) accepted
• BLS certification required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Professional references required
• Previous travel healthcare experience and 5+ years of surgical experience strongly preferred
• Trauma Level I hospital experience preferred

Key Responsibilities – Surgical First Assistant Jobs

• Provide first assist support in a busy operating room, including cardiac, vascular, orthopedic, gynecologic, thoracic, and general surgeries
• Float to general department first assist coverage when cardiac cases are not scheduled
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting for cardiovascular procedures
• Participate in call rotation and weekend coverage as scheduled
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and transportation
• Utilize advanced surgical technology including XI robots and endovascular suites
• Support a high-volume surgical unit with 80-100 cases daily across 21 operating rooms
