Manages the product and application development team for North American polypropylene compounds. Ensures innovation and product developmental activities are consistent with customer demands, business plan, market trends and LYB PRM policies. Supports QN/NCM investigations for application field issues. Mentors the Technology engineers with regards to proper formulation techniques and ensuring LYB best practices are followed. Maintains raw material cost discipline and act as the COE focal point lead for PPC raw materials. Provides global communication with other PPC regions regarding innovation activities and developmental trends. #LI-LL2

A Day in the Life

• Manage PPC/EP PP team in accordance with GoalZero HSE and Operational Excellence requirements. Create a motivated, proactive, efficient workforce based on the culture and values of the organization while facilitating a safe, rewarding and inclusive work environment without bias
• Provide global support on innovation and new technologies or methods. Transfer of new developed products to and from other regions.
• Provides global communication with Technology groups in other regions regarding innovation activities and developmental trends.
• Works with manufacturing organization to ensure PRM, quality and efficiency is optimized via resin recipe management.
• Interface with New Business Development and Business Manager to plan, prepare, implement and lead technical product/application development projects and goals in line with segment needs, industry trends and business strategy.
• Understand broader customer, market and industry needs / trends. Facilitate the group’s interaction with other cross functional organizations to frame these into value added opportunities. Maintain key customer/supplier/vendor relationships required to support business strategy.
• Provide support to PPC/EP PP NA production sites and prepare scale up of developments by MPC´s. Work closely with all laboratories to ensure team needs and data accuracy.
• Support both customer and internal complaint analysis for PPC/EP PP product line.
• Ensure the proper management of project portfolio according IATF 16949 by using GIGP procedure and Accolade database. Ensure technical coherence and alignment with business strategy
• Coordination of basic research for PPC/EP PP. Initiation of new innovative projects also with business partners, external institutes and universities and stimulate technical competitive knowledge within the team
• Mentor Technology Engineers toward best practice recipe creation and project management.
• Define and implement cost saving measures on formulations and raw material portfolio, regarding deployed resources and in coordination with procurement
• Frequent important trade shows/conferences and give relevant presentations/papers

You Bring This Value

Education:

• Minimum of a B.S degree in an Engineering or Science related field. Strongly prefer an advanced degree in a related field.

Work Experience:

• 15 years of industry experience, preferably with at least 5 years of experience leading a technical group. The incumbent must have a proven track record of significant contributions to a business unit.

• Technical depth and breadth in company proprietary technologies, good communication and collaboration skills, ability to deliver results, good project management skills and a proven track record of making successful decisions on program opportunities to pursue.

Skills:

1. Knowledge of polypropylene compounds and PP resin properties is required.
2. Knowledge of automotive applications and injection molding process preferred.
3. Team player with strong leadership skills.
4. Flexibility to adapt to change and act as a change agent.
5. Good supervisory skills supported by strong problem solving skills and general business orientation.
6. Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management, internally and externally.
7. Excellent presentation skills and ability to sell ideas/concepts.
