Position Summary
Mayflower Preschool is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, values relationships with children and families, and enjoys collaborating with fellow teachers.
As a Preschool Teacher, you will create engaging learning experiences that foster curiosity, independence, creativity, and kindergarten readiness while supporting the social and emotional growth of every child.
Responsibilities
Create an Engaging Learning Environment
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote early childhood development.
- Foster children’s growth in literacy, math, science, social-emotional learning, and creative expression.
- Create a classroom atmosphere that is warm, organized, inviting, and developmentally appropriate.
- Encourage children’s curiosity, independence, and problem-solving skills.
Support Individual Growth
- Observe and assess each child’s development and learning.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the unique needs, interests, and abilities of individual children.
- Celebrate children’s strengths while providing encouragement and support where needed.
Build Strong Family Partnerships
- Develop positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate regularly about children’s progress, classroom activities, and important events.
- Work collaboratively with families to support each child’s success.
Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and classroom documentation as required.
Collaborate as a Team Member
- Work closely with co-teachers and other staff members to create a positive school culture.
- Share ideas, resources, and best practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Coursework, degree, or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
- Patience, flexibility, creativity, and a genuine love for young children.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and move actively throughout the classroom.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to supervise children both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
