Job Title: TIG Welder/Fabricator
Job Description
- This role focuses on precision TIG welding and fabrication of stainless steel components in a final assembly environment.
- You will work closely with the welding leadership team and a group of experienced welders to assemble machined and cut parts into finished products, primarily using horizontal TIG welds with occasional multi-position work
- The position is heavily hands-on, requiring strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on client-specific, short-run production jobs
Job Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel, primarily 14 gauge, with materials ranging from 20 gauge up to 11 gauge and occasionally 7 gauge
- Execute approximately 95% TIG welding and 5% MIG welding as needed to support production requirements
- Assemble machined and cut parts in the final assembly department, fabricating components into complete products according to client-specific blueprints
- Weld in multiple positions, with a focus on horizontal welds, while maintaining consistent quality and adherence to specifications
- Use hand tools such as angle grinders and sanders to deburr and finish rough edges on newly stamped or formed stainless steel and aluminum components
- Operate equipment such as tube benders, drill presses, saws, and other shop tools to help create and prepare parts for welding and assembly
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, including symbols and tolerances, to understand job layouts and ensure accurate fabrication for short-run and single-job production
- Collaborate daily with welding leadership and other welders to coordinate job duties, prioritize work, and meet production schedules
- Oversee and support TIG welding and final assembly activities to ensure products meet quality standards and customer requirements
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of TIG stainless steel welding experience, including the ability to TIG weld very thin stainless steel such as 14 gauge
- Minimum of 10 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, including blueprint symbols and tolerances
- Experience performing TIG welding on stainless steel materials ranging from 20 gauge up to 11 gauge, with occasional work on 7 gauge
- Ability to weld in multiple positions, with strong proficiency in horizontal TIG welding
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as angle grinders and sanders to finish and deburr metal components
- Ability to read and follow client-specific blueprints for short-run and single-job production
This is a Permanent position based out of Madison Heights, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
