Welder-Fitter (MIG/TIG)

Location: Livonia, MI
Pay Rate: Starting at up to $24 an hour, will pay HIGHER for EXCEPTIONAL relevant experiences
Schedule: 1st shift 6:00am start time

Position Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Welder-Fitter to assemble, fit, and weld metal components for a variety of custom fabrication projects. The ideal candidate is proficient in MIG and TIG welding , capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols, and has a strong background in metal fabrication and fitting.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum parts.
• Fit and assemble components according to blueprints and job specifications.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, deburring, and alignment.
• Inspect welded assemblies for accuracy, structural integrity, and quality compliance.
• Maintain welding tools and equipment; follow all safety procedures and shop standards.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

Qualifications :

• 4–5 years of welding and fitting experience required.
• Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Strong knowledge of metal types, bend allowances, and fabrication techniques.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely handle metal components.

Preferred :

• Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent).
• Experience in a fabrication or job shop environment.
• Familiarity with jigs, fixtures, and assembly layouts.
