Mechanical Construction Assistant (Chemical Piping)

Location: Taylor, Texas (100% onsite)

Job Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

Salary: $75,000-$90,000

Job Description:


The Mechanical Construction Assistant (Chemical Piping) supports mechanical and chemical piping construction projects by coordinating documentation, monitoring field activities, and assisting with schedule and progress tracking. The role works closely with engineering firms, project management, and site teams to ensure construction activities align with approved specifications, drawings, and client requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Documentation: Manage project paperwork and site records to ensure construction activities are properly documented and traceable.

  • Drawing Review: Review project specifications and shop drawings to confirm alignment with approved designs and scope.

  • Engineering Coordination: Coordinate technical and engineering issues with external engineering firms to ensure compliance with specifications and owner requirements.

  • Construction Monitoring: Track and report construction progress, including measurement of work completed against planned milestones.

  • Schedule Management: Manage progress and scheduling for assigned scopes of work, including fabrication and installation activities.

  • Status Communication: Communicate project status, risks, and progress updates to Project Management, the client, and internal or external stakeholders as required to support informed decision-making.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean, required to support effective communication with project stakeholders, vendors, or clients where both languages are used for business operations.

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Basic mechanical knowledge relevant to construction and piping systems.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in mechanical or chemical piping construction preferred, typically two or more years.

  • Technical Drawings: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs preferred to support coordination and construction monitoring.

  • Software Skills: Proficiency with BIM tools, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours when required to support project schedules, site activities, or critical milestones, consistent with applicable labor laws.
