Peckham Inc. - Payroll Specialist SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist is a part of Peckham's Finance team and is responsible for processing Peckham's payroll. The Payroll Specialist plays an important part in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time by processing payroll, reviewing data, reconciling reports, and supporting employees with payroll-related questions.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process biweekly and off-cycle payroll using a third-party payroll system.

Export data from time and attendance system.

Reconcile biweekly payroll reports to time and attendance and human resource information systems.

Review and maintain employee payroll data.

Coordinate payroll garnishment and child support orders with third-party payroll provider.

Work collaboratively across the organization to provide timely payroll information and solutions to support the organization's mission and employees.

Review payroll processes and systems to ensure accuracy and improve efficiency when possible.

Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and deductions, ensuring accurate information and timely resolution of issues.

Provide exceptional customer service by communicating complex payroll information in a clear and supportive manner, fostering trust and understanding among employees and departments.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Provide backup support for other Payroll Specialists.

Adhere to all company internal control policies and procedures, including the appropriate handling of Confidential and Privacy Act- protected information.

Create and maintain regular payroll-related reporting.
-
Support key objectives and mission related activities.
-
Ad hoc reporting and projects.
-
Embrace teamwork for all projects.
-
As required by some customer contracts, Peckham employees may be required to obtain and maintain relevant professional certifications and/or security clearances as a condition of employment. This requirement will be determined based on the specific needs of contract.

Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards.

Regular and predictable attendance are required of this position to support the team and needs of the operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
High School (HS) Diploma and/or GED (General Education Diploma)
-
1 + Years of work experience in payroll or other accounting functions.
-
Must be able to manage multiple projects with accuracy and meet competing deadlines.
-
Familiarity with automated payroll and accounting software packages.
-
Commitment to working in a team environment with people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Must be able to create and maintain spreadsheets.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Provide information and reports to management in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
-
Possess and practice critical thinking skills; use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed to ensure timely payroll processing and compliance with deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or another related field.
TRAVEL AND REMOTE WORK

Travel is not expected with this position.
