Job Description

Join our team as a Painter on the 2nd shift, working from 4:00 PM to 3:00 AM. You will be responsible for painting I-beams and other structural metal components used in bridges and construction sites. Your primary task will be to ensure even paint coverage, though aesthetics are not the primary focus. Additional responsibilities include operating an overhead crane to move, load, and unload steel beams, and grinding the beams to ensure smooth paint application.

Responsibilities

• Paint I-beams and structural metal components with even coverage.
• Operate overhead crane for moving, loading, and unloading steel beams.
• Grind steel beams to ensure smooth and even paint distribution.
• Avoid painting marked areas on the beams and maintain attention to detail.
• Pass a tape measure test.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of wet coat painting experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
• 1-2 years operating an overhead crane.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Combilift and Skytrack.
• Hilo experience.

Work Environment

Work on the 2nd shift from 4:00 PM to 3:00 AM in a designated area for painting and loading within a structural steel company. The environment is a mix between production and construction, emphasizing safety with required steel toe boots. Enjoy a competitive pay rate with a 10% shift premium.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
