JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Inspector will report to the Quality Supervisor and provide critical inspection support for both Receiving and Final Inspection processes, including support for month-end shipments. This role is responsible for ensuring product compliance through detailed inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, plug and pin gages, and manual layout techniques. The Quality Inspector will also evaluate certified documentation, prepare First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102 standards, and conduct audits to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform inspection support for both Receiving and Final Inspection in accordance with quality procedures.
- Inspect products per blueprint requirements using precision measurement tools.
- Evaluate product compliance through thorough knowledge of industry specifications, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
- Technically validate certified paperwork to ensure compliance with specifications and blueprints.
- Prepare and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102 requirements.
- Conduct Assembly Floor Layer Process Audits and 5S audits to ensure quality and workplace safety.
- Support inspection activities as needed to meet customer demands, especially during month-end.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment within the last 5 years.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality department within the last 5 years.
- Documented experience in product compliance, blueprint reading, and GD&T within the last 5 years.
- Documented experience preparing/evaluating AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows-based software.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Ability to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship (now and in the future).
- Ability to read, understand, and follow product specifications, drawings, and work orders in English.
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan (relocation not provided).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in receiving inspection.
- Experience writing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Experience with AS9100 compliance.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- Certified training in blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Experience with SAP.
