Job Description

We are seeking a PLC Field Service Engineer / Repair Technician to join our team in Clinton Township, MI. This role involves building and shipping electrical enclosures, supporting startups and retrofits for end users, and providing service work primarily within the state, with occasional out-of-state engineering startups. The position requires travel for startups, local service calls, and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship electrical enclosures without engaging in mechanical work or field wiring.

• Support startups and retrofits for end users.

• Perform service work primarily within the state, with occasional out-of-state engineering startups.

• Troubleshoot and modify PLC code, primarily Rockwell, with Siemens being a big plus.

• Program and adjust HMI, occasionally using C-More screens.

• Conduct drive tuning and commissioning.

• Add code for system enhancements such as coolant pump logic.

• Electronic and Electrical components are for primarily Tube Mills, in non automotive applications.

Essential Skills

• Strong background in electrical engineering or mechatronics.

• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, debugging, startup, and commissioning.

• Proficiency in equipment and HMI programming.

• Ability to troubleshoot and modify PLC code, primarily Rockwell.

• Drive tuning and commissioning experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Board-level repair for older systems.

• Service calls and bench repair experience.

• Familiarity with ladder logic.

• Understanding of industrial electrical systems such as tube mills and OEM machines.

• Siemens PLC experience is highly beneficial.

• Exposure to the secondary steel industry is a plus.

• Comfort with customer interaction and a strong service mindset.

Work Environment

The standard schedule is 8 AM to 5 PM when in the office, with startups requiring 10-hour days from Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. Travel is 90%, primarily local with minimal overnights, and startups typically last one week or less, with a maximum of two weeks. The position offers contract-to-hire with benefits once direct including HSA contributions, 401(k) employer contributions, employer-paid long-term and short-term disability, and dental and vision coverage. There are opportunities for overtime, with 10-12+ hour days during startups, and mileage reimbursement for day travel.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
