Seasonal Event Manager – Holiday Lights Drive-Through

Wilderness Trails Zoo is seeking an experienced, hands-on Event Manager to help oversee nightly operations of our annual Holiday Lights Drive-Through event. This position works closely with, and in the absence of, the Zoo’s General Manager to ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for every guest.

Position Overview

The Event Manager will coordinate all aspects of evening event operations, supervising multiple departments including:

Retail staff in the gift shop

Cashiers at the admissions booth

Traffic control and parking staff

Maintenance and support crews

This role requires strong leadership, multitasking, and communication skills to manage a large team and high guest volume efficiently and professionally.

Responsibilities

Oversee nightly event operations and ensure all stations are staffed and running smoothly

Manage and motivate seasonal employees across several departments

Handle guest inquiries, issues, and escalations with professionalism

Monitor cash handling and retail transactions for accuracy and accountability

Communicate with the General Manager regarding staffing, safety, and operational updates

Assist with setup, lighting checks, and basic troubleshooting as needed

Ensure adherence to zoo policies, safety standards, and quality guest experiences

Requirements

Must be 21 years or older

Must pass a drug screening and background check

Must have reliable transportation

Prior management experience required — preferably in event operations, hospitality, or retail sales

Electrical experience or familiarity with event lighting systems is a plus

Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, snow, rain, etc.)

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods

Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the event season

Schedule & Pay

Seasonal employment: Mid-November through early February

Evening shifts: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Weekend and holiday availability required
