Purchasing Associate
Summary
Phoenix Services has partnered with an aerosol company located in Wayne, MI, who is looking to add a Purchasing Associate to their team! The Purchasing Associate will oversee, supervise, and direct the daily activities and development of the Purchasing Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that purchasing is meeting the requirements set by the company by establishing and implementing purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage and mitigate risk by assessing current material availability, as well as reasonably predicting future availability based on market, delivery systems, and other variables.
- Collaborate with different departments to identify and develop needs and requirements for raw materials, chemicals, products, and acceptable solutions.
- Work with the Inventory Manager to develop and manage a safety stock program that will protect against issues such as late delivery and inventory discrepancy.
- Negotiate and close deals with optional terms.
- Confirm orders have been shipped as expected by maintaining records of all suppliers, contracts, and correspondence.

To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate must be professional, proactive, and positive. Sensitivity to the unpredictable demands and uncertainties associated with customer service is a requisite to delivering superior results and exceeding the expectations of very demanding customers.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially working with figures.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SageX3 ERP systems, as well as MRP/MPS.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
- Excellent organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field
This is a full-time temporary to permanent position with benefits including health insurance and PTO. The starting pay is $20.00/HR and it will be a 1st shift position (7:00AM-3:30PM).
