What You'll Do:

As our English Language Arts Teacher, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Ignite a Passion for Literature: Bring classic and contemporary texts to life, fostering a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling.
• Empower Young Writers: Help students develop their writing skills, from crafting compelling narratives to constructing persuasive arguments.
• Cultivate Critical Thinkers: Encourage students to analyze, question, and evaluate information, developing essential skills for success in college and beyond.
• Create Engaging Learning Experiences: Design and implement innovative lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and spark a love of language.
• Make a Difference: Guide and encourage students to develop their academic potential in English Language Arts, fostering a love for reading and writing while equipping them with essential skills for success

• Support students in achieving the essential skills outlined in the Michigan Common Core standards.
• Encourage students to establish and uphold high standards of responsibility for their learning and behavior.
• Understand and implement the school’s and state’s requirements for teaching middle and/or high school students, creating appropriate curricula.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about curriculum changes and educational trends.
• Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies and media tailored to the diverse needs of students.
• Regularly evaluate student progress and refer those needing additional assistance when necessary.
• Teach rules of conduct and maintain discipline within the classroom and throughout the campus.
• Strive to embody the academy’s philosophy, instructional goals, and educational objectives through both teaching methods and actions.
• Participate actively in weekly staff meetings, ongoing professional development sessions, and grade-level/content area meetings.
• Maintain accurate administrative records in accordance with district policies.
• Consistently support school policies and procedures while collaborating with school leadership.
• Model self-discipline and ethical behavior, presenting yourself professionally through appropriate attire, communication, and demeanor.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both orally and in writing.
• Ensure appropriate supervision of students to create a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Collaborate effectively with peers, administrators, and other staff members.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
• Compliance with State of Michigan requirements for teacher certification in the relevant subject area(s) and grade level(s).
• Candidates must demonstrate:
  • Strong skills in planning, delivering, and assessing student learning.
  • In-depth knowledge of research-based instructional strategies with the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of professional conduct.
  • Punctuality, good attendance, and a strong work ethic.
  • A belief that all children can succeed, along with a dedication to making this belief a reality.

Position: Middle School ELA Teacher

Compensation: Up to $50 per hour
