MANAGER - RADIATION ONCOLOGY
The Radiation Oncology Manager, in collaboration with the Administrative Director of the Cancer Center, is responsible for the overall operation of the Radiation Center and supporting the Radiation Oncology department at the Covenant Cancer Care Center at Aspire Marlette. This individual is responsible for overseeing the department's daily operations, staffing, operating budget, ensure coding and insurance billing requirements are being met, monitoring volume trends and making operational adjustments as needed, implementing quality improvement projects, new initiatives/programs and participates in meetings and functions to support the accreditations and research within the department and cancer center. In collaboration with the Administrative Director of the Cancer Center, identifies and deploys strategic initiatives. The role of the Radiation Oncology Manager is to facilitate all aspects of the hiring process, providing corrective action, formal employee evaluations, and payroll.

Responsibilities:Patient Leadership
-Accountable for patient care documentation is complete and accurate in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.
-Works collaboratively with the Administrative Director of Cancer Center to develop a highly effective strategic marketing plan that promotes the radiation oncology center as the regional experts in radiation oncology care.
-Participates in community outreach events representing Covenant or the Radiation Oncology Department.
-Monitors changes from accrediting governing bodies and updates departmental policies and procedures as appropriate.
-Works collaboratively with the Oncology Research Program in the coordination of patient clinical trials and associated activities.
-Collaborates with the Radiation Oncology Medical Director and Administrative Director for identifying, implementing, and tracking strategic initiatives.
-Monitor and ensure patient and employee safety and satisfaction.
-Coordinate vendor visits as needed by the department.
Workforce Leadership
Provides all aspects of personnel management including:
-Employee scheduling, coordinating coverage for vacation, medical leaves, jury duty, accurate reporting of employee's payroll time.
-Ensure proper staffing and work assignments.
-Hiring, training and mentoring.
-Performs corrective action, development plans, and performance appraisals in collaboration with Human Resources.
-Address employee concerns. Build effective working relationships and foster a spirit of teamwork within the office which includes staff focusing on the accomplishment of Covenant's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Business Plan.
-Demonstrates leadership in initiating and managing change, adopting new methods, willingness to see beyond and across department silos and effective participation on assigned leadership initiatives/committees.
-Serve as a resource to technical staff on radiation technical issues related to equipment and patient care issues.
-Coaches, mentors, encourages, and motivates employees to work together as an effective team. Mentors staff toward growth and development to enhance job responsibilities and accountability.
-Coordinate training and ongoing staff education activities (CEU, CME) and completes competencies as needed/required.
-Leads staff meetings, in-service programs and continuing education activities as necessary.
-Attends leadership meetings, as invited or requested by the Administrative Director of Cancer Center.
Productivity/Quality
-Develops and implements a supportive environment that energizes staff to enhance the delivery of safe quality patient care.
-Accountable for required unit records, reports and statistics, regulatory logs, unit and organizations policy and procedures, quality monitoring, safety, environmental and infection control measures and holds staff accountable to established requirements.
-Comply with regulatory standards, accreditations, Certificate of Need (CON), and preparation of ACHC and ACR site visits.
-Implement changes related to new services or operations as well as tracks initiatives to validate whether they are meeting expectations or projected targets.
-Works collaboratively with physicians and other service providers for desired quality, fiscal and service outcomes.
-Continually monitors, identifies and/or recommends ways in which departmental tasks/process may be streamlined to gain efficiency.
-Sets and achieves departmental targets/goals and creatively leads work group to accomplish them.
Patient Care/Support
-Addresses the needs and dissatisfiers in areas of the Radiation Center as appropriate and participates in implementing plans to improve satisfaction.
-Ensure that customer needs are addressed, expectations are met and/or exceeded.
-Maintains competency to assist on an episodic basis in times of high census (per training or credential capability), as a consultant to staff, or in response to emergency situations.
-Maintains professional development through seminars, workshops, in-service activities, and current professional literature.
Budget/Revenue Cycle
-Responsible for charge master and all revenue cycle management activities including authorizations, coding, billing, and insurance billing requirements.
-Formulates and provides ongoing re-assessment of departmental budgets, financial performance including net income, projects volume/activity, controls expenses, productivity, Action O-I, care and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment, and supplies within budget constraints. Creates and manages cost effective work within the practice to meet budget projections.
-Establish contracts with vendors and locum staff agencies and monitor contracts for renewal, best pricing and compliance with contract terms.
-Works closely with vendors and representatives to resolve problems with equipment, supply inventory or service requests.
-Responsible for providing a billing review at the end of each month.
-Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin.
-Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business, management or related field required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a candidate with five (5) years of experience in healthcare or hospital setting, who is committed and willing to obtain a bachelor's degree within five (5) years upon hire in position.
EXPERIENCE
-Three (3) years of recent experience in healthcare of hospital setting required.
-Three (3) years of recent supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
-Five (5) years of experience in radiation oncology preferred.
-Registered Radiologic Technologist, Dosimetrist or Registered Nurse preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
-Strong working knowledge of existing software systems and maintains current with upgrades of such systems. Proficient with PC and spreadsheet applications, electronic billing, build of scheduling templates and health record but not limited to e-mail/calendar applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
-Strong working knowledge of and ability to practically apply medical terminology, CPT-4, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding.
-Strong organization skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
-Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve and prioritize staff/patient needs independently, efficiently and effectively.
-Ability to maintain confidential information.
-Exercise sound judgment in difficult and sensitive situations.
-Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Proven ability to interact positively with staff, to motivate, and resolve problems effectively.
-Working knowledge of Covenant HealthCare and MSO policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-This position requires working in a clinical setting, as well as an office environment and having a daily onsite presence at the assigned practice site.
-Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
-Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
-Frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, and depth perception.
