Crossroads Charter Academy is currently hiring a J.V. Volleyball Coach . Part Time, 10 to 15 hours per week during Fall sports season.

Crossroads Charter Academy is located in Big Rapids, Michigan and serves communities in the surrounding area. Our academy is not restricted to residential boundaries, which allows us to reach out to families in the suburban and rural areas of Mecosta and Osceola counties.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
Plan, organize, and conduct practices that develop athletes' volleyball fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and game strategy.
Coach and supervise the Junior Varsity Volleyball team during practices, competitions, tournaments, and other team-related activities.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture that promotes student-athlete growth, character, and leadership.
Develop practice plans that improve individual skills, physical conditioning, and team performance.
Teach proper techniques, game rules, and strategies while emphasizing safety and injury prevention.
Evaluate student-athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.
Collaborate with the Varsity coaching staff to ensure consistency in program philosophy, expectations, and athlete development.
Monitor and maintain the inventory, care, and organization of volleyball equipment and uniforms.
Ensure compliance with all school, conference, league, and applicable athletic association rules and regulations.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and other team activities.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, athletic department staff, and school administrators.
Maintain required team records, eligibility information, and other documentation as assigned.
Attend coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department events as required.
Promote good sportsmanship and represent the school in a positive and professional manner.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Cognitive Demands:
Supervise multiple student-athletes in practice and competition settings.
Develop practice plans and game strategies.
Make sound decisions during practices and competitions.
Maintain a safe and organized athletic environment.
Demonstrate effective leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Adapt coaching strategies based on team and individual player development.
Participate in ongoing professional development as appropriate.
Physical Demands:
Frequently stand, walk, run, bend, kneel, and demonstrate volleyball skills during practices and games.
Occasionally lift, carry, or move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Set up and take down volleyball nets, equipment, and practice materials.
Work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required by the athletic schedule.
Travel with the team to away contests, tournaments, and other athletic events.
Withstand moderate to high noise levels in gymnasium environments.
Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous volleyball coaching experience or competitive volleyball playing experience preferred.
Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, player development, and game strategy.
Ability to motivate, mentor, and positively influence student-athletes.
Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with athletic department staff, school administrators, parents, and other coaches.
Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain if required.
Ability to meet all school, district, and state athletic coaching requirements, including background checks and any required coaching certifications.
