Child Therapist
Job Description
Job Description
Not every superhero wears a cape.
Some carry a bag full of fidgets, stickers, games, and Play-Doh.
At Spring Forest Counseling, we know that healing doesn't always happen from a couch. Sometimes it happens while building with Legos, playing Uno, drawing dragons, or sitting quietly beside a child who finally feels safe enough to talk.
We're a growing, clinician-centered private practice looking for a Child & Adolescent Therapist who believes that connection comes before intervention and that every child deserves a space where they can be authentically themselves.
If you're the kind of therapist who gets excited about helping children make sense of big emotions, loves collaborating with families, and believes play is serious clinical work, keep reading; we think you'll like it here.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll provide outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and their families while building meaningful therapeutic relationships that create lasting change.
Whether your passion is anxiety, trauma, ADHD, autism, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, school stress, family transitions, or simply helping kids discover their strengths, you'll have the opportunity to build a caseload that reflects your interests and expertise.
Your Day Might Include:
- Helping a child process anxiety through play.
- Celebrating a teenager's first real breakthrough.
- Coaching parents through challenging moments with compassion and practical strategies.
- Collaborating with schools, physicians, and community providers when appropriate.
- Creating individualized treatment plans and maintaining timely clinical documentation.
- Consulting with a supportive team that genuinely enjoys helping one another grow.
No two days are exactly alike—and that's exactly how we like it.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Michigan licensure (LPC, LLPC, LMSW, LLMSW, LMFT, LLMFT, LLP, or TLLP).
- Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a supportive clinical team.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with play therapy or child-centered interventions.
- Training in trauma-informed care.
- Experience supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents.
- Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential—or an interest in becoming one.
- Experience providing family therapy or parent coaching.
Why Therapists Love Working Here
We believe therapists do their best work when they feel supported—not micromanaged.
That means we provide access to:
- Competitive fee-split compensation
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Accrued paid sick leave
- In-house administrative support for scheduling, billing, and insurance credentialing
- Marketing support and a steady flow of referrals
- Beautiful, thoughtfully designed office spaces
- Collaboration with experienced clinicians who enjoy sharing ideas
- Opportunities to grow into your clinical passions and specialties
- A workplace where your voice matters, your expertise is respected, and your well-being is valued
Will I Fit In? Yes if...
You're compassionate without losing your sense of humor.
You understand that therapy with kids can involve laughter, glitter, difficult conversations, and occasionally cleaning Play-Doh out of the carpet.
You believe authentic relationships are the foundation of meaningful therapy.
You're committed to providing ethical, evidence-based care while continuing to learn, grow, and challenge yourself professionally.
Most importantly, you believe every child deserves at least one adult who truly sees them.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
Come help us create a place where authenticity finds its voice.
