Job Location: Auburn Hills. MI
Job Duration: 3 Months, Contract to Hire
Job Summary:
- The Component and Vehicle Weights Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of weights across one or more vehicle programs, from early concept approval through production launch.
- Responsibilities include physically weighing components and complete vehicles to refine weight precision in support of engineering targets.
- The role also drives process improvement by analyzing weight data and providing analytic trends, identifying opportunities in current auditing methods, and implementing standardized procedures to enhance accuracy and reliability.
- Local travel is required within the Detroit Metro area, with occasional visits to assembly plants in Canada and Mexico
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with CTC weight lab personnel to schedule physical weight audits at multiple locations
- Participate in audits at CTC, assembly plants and suppliers (some travel may be required)
- Assist in root cause analysis for weight related concerns, i.e. ride height, corner weights, technical weight issues at CTC and locations referenced in the initial job description
- Collaborate with Chassis Engineering, Weight Team and Manufacturing personnel to manage and implement corrective actions related to weight accuracy and fidelity.
- Use statistical analysis for vehicle and component weights.
- Lead the development of new/current processes, methods and tools to reduce gaps between physical and virtual weights.
- Work closely with the Weight Lead and Program Team to develop and refine vehicle weight estimates with greater reliability and accuracy based on actual weights
- Use data analytics to identify opportunities to reduce errors in the weight process
- Monitor and take appropriate actions to maintain production weight scales maintenance and calibration of all weight related equipment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- 5+ years of relevant automotive product development experience.
- Knowledge of the overall program development life cycle
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Experience analyzing data and formulating meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

- Fuel Economy Testing 3
- Familiarity with FCA Engineering tools such as VWMS, PDB, EBOM, CN, TeamCenter, STV, FastCar2, A2Mac, simulation tools 3
- Weight & Mass Estimation 4
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive field
- Knowledge of Vehicle Demand Energy analysis or fuel economy testing
- Familiarity with FCA Engineering tools such as VWMS, PDB, EBOM, CN, TeamCenter, STV, FastCar2, A2Mac, simulation tools, etc
