Bus monitor

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Monitor to ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to maintaining a positive and secure environment on school buses. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to student safety while supporting educational programs in a dynamic school setting.

Duties

• Supervise students during bus transportation, ensuring they follow safety rules and behave appropriately
• Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus safely
• Monitor student behavior and address conflicts or disruptions using effective conflict management and behavior management techniques
• Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies
• Communicate effectively with students, drivers, and school staff regarding student needs or concerns
• Support classroom teachers and staff as needed, especially for students with special education needs
• Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment, reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards
• Uphold all safety protocols and school policies to ensure a secure transportation experience for all students

Experience

• Prior experience working with children or in childcare is preferred
• Experience with students, including classroom experience or teaching background, is advantageous
• Knowledge of special education requirements and behavior management strategies is a plus
• Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with students, staff, and parents
• Certification in first aid is desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided if necessary
• Ability to manage conflicts calmly and professionally in high-pressure situations
