Job Title: Drywall Finisher

Job Description

We are currently seeking skilled drywall tapers to join our team in the Novi/metro Detroit area. As a drywall finisher, you will perform finishing duties on various small commercial construction sites throughout the metro area. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that drywall surfaces are professionally taped and finished to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Spread sealing compound between boards or panels or over cracks, holes, nail heads, or screw heads, using trowels, broadknives, or spatulas.
• Apply sealants or other protective coatings.
• Press paper tape over joints to embed tape into sealing compound and seal joints.
• Apply additional coats to fill in holes and make surfaces smooth.
• Seal joints between plasterboard or other wallboard to prepare wall surfaces for painting or papering.
• Spread and smooth cementing material over tape, using trowels or floating machines to blend joints with wall surfaces.
• Sand or patch nicks or cracks in plasterboard or wallboard.
• Mix sealing compounds by hand or with portable electric mixers.
• Select the correct sealing compound or tape.
• Countersink nails or screws below surfaces of walls before applying sealing compounds.
• Remove extra compound after surfaces have been covered sufficiently.
• Install metal molding at wall corners to secure wallboard.
• Apply texturizing compounds or primers to walls or ceilings before final finishing.
• Use mechanical applicators that spread compounds and embed tape in one operation.
• Sand rough spots of dried cement between applications of compounds.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of drywall finishing experience
• Proficiency in drywall taping and finishing
• Must own hand tools
• Reliable transportation

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with using mechanical applicators
• Ability to work with various texturizing compounds
• Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship

Carpenters will work in a construction environment with varying temperatures, from hot to cold, and must be comfortable in noisy surroundings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Novi, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
