Inside Sales/Rental Associate

We're hiring an Inside Customer Sales/Rental Representative at our Saginaw, Michigan store. What does this mean? We want someone who is willing to learn about the Rental and Sales of the construction/farm equipment industry! We will pay to train and guide you along the way so you can handle customers' needs. This role is a pivotal part of our company's sales & Rental strategy, focusing on building strong customer relationships, understanding client needs, and driving sales/rental growth from within the office. There is and opportunity to progression into an Outside Sales position, contingent upon meeting specified performance KPIs.

Your day-to-day tasks can vary from answer incoming phone calls and directing them to the correct department. Helping walk-in customers with basic questions. Intaking customer information and getting it to the outside salesperson promptly. You will work directly with our Sales Team & Rental Team to make sure leads are followed upon.

Inside Sales & Rental Specialist – Saginaw, MI (Full-Time)
Our Saginaw location is currently seeking a full-time Inside Sales & Rental Specialist  for our Saginaw, MI  branch.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Meet or exceed sales and profitability goals within your assigned territory.

  • Proactively generate new business through inbound lead follow-up, outbound calls, emails, and walk-in traffic.

  • Greet customers professionally and handle walk-in inquiries with a focus on providing equipment solutions and generating quotes.

  • Provide timely follow-up and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and repeat customers.

Rental Department Support

  • Assist rental customers with equipment selection, availability, and rental agreements.

  • Coordinate with the rental manager and yard staff to ensure accurate fulfillment and timely turnaround of rental equipment.

  • Promote rental solutions to customers when purchasing isn't the right fit, ensuring Carleton remains a one-stop resource.

  • Monitor rental fleet condition and communicate service needs to the appropriate department.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Answer incoming phone calls and route them appropriately across departments or sales personnel.

  • Report weekly sales activity and results to the Sales Manager.

  • Maintain and update a customer database for marketing, quoting, and follow-up purposes.

Merchandising & Dealership Image

  • Assist in maintaining an organized and professional appearance of the showroom and exterior sales lot.

  • Ensure signage, displays, and promotional materials are current and effective.

Cross-Departmental Upselling

  • Proactively promote parts, service, and rental solutions to drive overall revenue and deliver a complete customer experience.

Training & Product Knowledge

  • Stay current on manufacturer product lines, financing programs, and seasonal promotions.

  • Participate in ongoing training (self-directed, on-site, and off-site) to improve product knowledge and sales skills.

Company Representation

  • Uphold Carleton Equipment’s reputation and image through professional behavior, appearance, and customer interactions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player
• Communication skills in person, over the phone, and digitally
• Efficient Computer Skills; Programs such as Microsoft Office; Navigational & Search
• Willingness to learn and grow!
