Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor is a hands-on working leader responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance while also overseeing day-to-day maintenance activities. This role ensures equipment reliability, coordinates work priorities, and maintains a safe, efficient manufacturing environment. The supervisor will perform all core maintenance tasks while providing guidance, direction, and support to maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures promptly to reduce production downtime, serving as the primary technical resource on shift.
- Inspect machinery—including motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, idlers, belts, pulleys, and rollers—to identify wear, misalignment, lubrication issues, and other concerns.
- Repair or replace mechanical and electrical components such as bearings, belts, chains, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, sensors, and controls.
- Lead the scheduling, assignment, and prioritization of maintenance tasks to support production needs.
- Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and work orders using paper or computerized systems; ensure documentation is completed by maintenance staff.
- Support and oversee spare parts inventory control, ordering components, and organizing the storeroom.
- Enforce safety regulations, company procedures, and maintenance best practices among maintenance and production personnel.
- Participate in and lead root-cause analysis for recurring issues; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal operational disruption.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring proper care and accountability of tools and equipment.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to maintenance team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred; leadership or lead-tech experience a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working with production machinery, conveyors, or fabrication environments.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools and the ability to read mechanical drawings or schematics.
- Basic electrical knowledge (motors, starters, 3-phase systems, VFDs preferred).
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical tasks such as bending and kneeling.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct, coach, and coordinate work within a small maintenance team.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical training or certification in maintenance, millwright, industrial mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience with conveyor systems, belting, or material-handling equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Basic automation or controls experience (sensors, PLCs).
