Description

Under general supervision, the Landscape Design Assistant, will support forestry plantings, corridor beautification, and park improvement projects This is a Temporary Administrative Special Services (TASS) position. This appointment term is based on the availability of grant funds.

Examples of Duties

• Creates graphic designs in photoshop of landscape projects from hand drawn sketches provided by senior staff
• Creates graphic designs in AutoCAD of landscape projects from hand drawn sketches provided by senior staff
• Provides input on plant and tree species selections for landscape projects
• Manages planting contractors and reviews contractor work in-field
• Coordinates project development and execution from inception to closure
• Evaluates planting locations and inspects contractor work
• Manages residential tree planting data
• Supports tracking and data management of tree plantings
• Produces summarization reports for project team, leadership, and general public

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, horticulture or forestry or a related field
• Skilled in the use of computer-aided design and drafting software applications such as AutoCAD
• Skilled in the use of graphic design software like sketch-up and photoshop
• Skilled in the use of commonly used word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and internet.

• Three (3) years of experience in landscape in architecture, horticulture, urban forestry or a related field
• Skilled in ArcGIS and comfortable running analysis with complex data sets Knowledge of general city planning.
