Automation Technician - Battle Creek, MI
Job Description
Seeking a skilled automation/controls technician to add to our team in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This individual will own the diagnosis and resolution of automation issues across electrical, electronic, and mechanical domains to minimize downtime. Your role will involve installing, wiring, configuring, and commissioning control hardware and software for production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Own the diagnosis and resolution of automation issues across electrical, electronic, and mechanical domains to minimize downtime.
- Install, wire, configure, and commission control hardware and software for production equipment.
- Program, calibrate, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs with a primary focus on Allen‑Bradley; exposure to Siemens is a plus.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance; repair failed components quickly and safely.
- Inspect electrical and control systems regularly to spot issues before they escalate.
- Work hands-on with robotics: troubleshoot faults, make minor program tweaks, and complete periodic maintenance.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of practical controls experience with emphasis on Allen‑Bradley platforms.
- Comfortable working with industrial robots and integrating them within automated cells.
- Fluency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Relay Testing and High Voltage Systems.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Welding, Conduit, Field service, Wiring, Electronics, Service, Schematic, Installation, Conduit bending, PLC control.
- Experienced with PLC (Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, Siemens), VFD's, and HMI systems.

Work Environment
Work in a fast-paced and deadline-sensitive culture, manufacturing interior sound deadening material for the Automotive Industry. The plant spans close to 300,000 sq. ft., with 40% of work involving Chrysler and the remainder split among various tiered suppliers and auto manufacturers.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Battle Creek, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
