CRITERIA:
- 60 semester credit hours
- Associate’s degree or higher
- ETS Parapro Assessment
- SAT score of 480 oftheevidence-based reading and writing section and 530 on the mathematics section
- Professional Readiness Exam (Pre-MTTC)
- Basic Skills Test (BST-MTTC)
Behavior Paraprofessional – Beacon Day Treatment
Positions:
- 1 position
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Must meet physical requirements
- Must meet general qualifications of a paraprofessional
- Must function as part of a multi-disciplinary team in meeting physical and emotional needs of special education children in a highly structured setting.
- Familiarity with evidence based and best practices working with students with EI
- Extensive experience implementing behavior intervention plans and emergency intervention plans
- Extensive experience using CPI de-escalation and restrictive procedure techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
- Experience working with students with EI, preferably in a center program
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with data collection
- Ability to analyze data, under guidance of the behavior specialist
- Familiarity with Google Platform
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
- Must fulfill “Highly Qualified” Federal requirements, and all State and Federal standards (passed ETS Parapro Assessment and /or Associate’s Degree)
- Excellent attendance and punctuality necessary
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
DUTIES:
DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND CHANGE
- Work closely with the behavior specialist and center program staff to respond to crisis situations
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team to respond quickly in the event of a crisis
- Ability to provide positive behavior supports to students with and without behavior intervention plans
- Work with classroom teams to reinforce positive behavior expectations
- Attend team/parent meetings, as directed
- Other duties as assigned
