Accountant II - Corporate Accounting and Shared Services

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. The Opportunity The Accountant II position is within the Controller’s Group reporting to a Manager within the Corporate Accounting and Shared Services Team (CASST). The candidate would be primarily responsible for supporting the work needed to reconcile the enterprise’s cash, cash clearing, and suspense accounts. This person would also work closely with Ally’s Enterprise Functions and Consolidations Accounting teams (also divisions of Corporate Accounting) on journal entries, internal reporting, and reconciliation activities. Finally, this person will support any other ad-hoc or project work within the Corporate Accounting Team, including ongoing automation efforts. The Work Itself- Prepare certain cash, cash clearing, and suspense journal entries and account reconciliations (monthly and daily) including complex accounts which require heavy collaboration with business partners across the organization to identify, research, and correct discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, internal reporting, and reconciliations associated with enterprise functions and consolidation-adjacent processes.
- Support the preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K) and regulatory reports.
- Identify and implement improvements and automation opportunities in areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate with several groups across the enterprise in gathering all the necessary materials.
- Assist in analytical accounting support to the internal business partners.
- Assists in the resolution of accounting problems through the appropriate channels.
- Manage and improve the processes around the assigned accounting activities.
- Drive audit compliance within the areas for which you are responsible.
- Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus.
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field(s) of study or equivalent
- Highly preferred: Bachelor's degree in Accounting major or equivalent.
- Highly preferred: 1+ years previous work experience in Accounting including experience preparing cash and other account reconciliations and with preparing and posting journal entries.
- Highly preferred: Advanced MS Excel skills (Power Query, pivot tables, x-lookups, etc.).
- Workday (including OfficeConnect) experience.
- CPA (or equivalent) is preferred (or working toward CPA or equivalent license).
- Possess general technical accounting skills.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.
- Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.
- Ability to contribute meaningfully to projects.
- Comfortable interacting with other personnel in groups or from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel on specific projects or routine matters, usually under supervision.

Base Pay Range : $55000 - $95000 USD An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications.
