Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Mason, MI

Salary Range: $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Manage environmental permits, waste streams (hazardous and non-hazardous), and ensure proper disposal and record-keeping.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, prepare reports, and submit required documentation to regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate safety best practices into production processes and equipment design.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, hazard communication, waste management).
• Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels.

Bonus Qualifications

• OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification
• Experience with EHS management software (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Sphera)
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience related to safety process improvement
• HAZWOPER certification or experience managing hazardous waste programs
