Quality Assurance Manager
PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance Manager provides leadership, direction and execution of all quality and food safety functions within the facility to support the company's quality objectives. Ensures all products produced meet or exceed all customer, regulatory and company requirements. Directs the plant Quality Assurance department in selecting, training, developing, motivating, and guiding Quality Assurance team members to achieve company quality and food safety goals. Facilitates continuous improvement through participation in internal audits and inspections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily oversight of production practices including raw material receiving requirements, pre-operational and operational sanitation, finished product Food Safety and Quality Systems, ensuring Kent Quality Foods policies and procedures are followed, and monitoring verification and documentation associated with adherence to government regulations.
- Development, implementation, and maintenance of Food Safety, Food Quality, SOP, GMP, SSOP, and SQF based programs.
- Ensure finished product conforms to customer product and label specifications.
- Interact with customers for product showings, plant tours, and audits.
- Assist in QA aspects of new product development & launch.
- Investigate and respond to quality related customer complaints.
- Training of Kent Quality Foods team members for QA related initiatives.
- Facilitating both the Food Safety and Foreign Material teams at the plant.
- Managing Hold & Release inventories at plant level.
- Completing required internal, regulatory, and customer audits.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Knowledge associated with food safety, animal science, natural sciences or technical field normally acquired through a bachelor's degree or higher in academic study, or related job experience essential to the job.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred. Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products.
- Computer Skills: Standard to advanced computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and building queries in Excel and developing templates for use by plant management, QA, sales, and operations. Familiarity with RedZone a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels line team members to senior leadership.
- Special Skills: Must have good problem identification and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently yet interact with many different facets within the organization and be the plant liaison to the USDA. HACCP Certified and SQF Certified preferred.
- Supervisory: Manage crewing labor and attendance of the QA department.
