: Senior Philanthropy Officer Founded by Michigan survivors to create a lasting memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, The Zekelman Holocaust Center (“The HC”) is guided by its mission to engage, educate, and empower by remembering the Holocaust. Each year the Center welcomes thousands of visitors to learn the lessons of history's darkest period. Exhibits and artifacts on display include survivor testimonies, documents, paintings, and films, a WWII-era boxcar, and a sapling from the tree located outside Anne Frank's hiding place window that is described in her diary. Embedded in the community, the Center's trained staff offers school and adult groups customized tours, training, and programs. Guests are empowered to apply the lessons learned to create a compassionate society where people take responsible action. Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Development and working in close partnership with the CEO and volunteer leaders, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects. Responsibilities:
  • Researching existing and prospective new donors
  • Cultivating existing donors
  • Identifying high-potential new donors
  • Solicit and close gifts for annual operations
  • Developing comprehensive solicitation strategies including outright gifts and pledges as well as legacy giving opportunities
  • Managing a portfolio of 50+ prospects, building relationships with key prospects and donors, and engaging them in major gift prospecting and solicitation
  • Managing stewardship, recognition and benefits initiatives
  • Tracking and monitoring major donor and campaign fundraising metrics
  • Experience in relationship building and closing gifts in excess of $100,000
  • Lead annual benefit fundraising operations in collaboration with other departments
  • Any other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience and proven success in major gifts fundraising or equivalent experience (such as in the financial services field)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Technical proficiency including experience working with fundraising databases such as Altru or similar software systems
  • Supervisor Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required and advanced degree preferred
