Test Technician - Durability
- Prepare test specimens, perform testing, and reporting of test results. The test includes, physical, mechanical, visual inspections on tables, chairs, desks, pallets, boxes, etc.
- Read understand, and follow lab standard operating procedures, or Standard test Methods and /or client test methods as required by the customers
- Co-ordinate work with other department team members to complete testing, reporting and report issue in a timely manner
- Communicate project status details to Department Manager and timely communicate any delays with the project stakeholders
- Provide support in test selection, review of lab test results and explain test results
- Assist in keeping inventory of laboratory and equipment supplies necessary for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory and in compiling a list of supplies to be ordered in timely manner
- Organize tested and remnant samples from laboratory for sample archiving by logistics department
- Demonstrate test procedure to auditors, clients and support account managers during client visits
- Assist in ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation and calibration activities of the laboratory and perform daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on equipment
- Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory
- High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of directly related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or directly related technical field.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Fluency in using computers is required.
- Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
- Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
- Experience with ISTA and/or BIFMA test standards
- Experience in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory with focus on Furniture and/or Package Testing
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is a plus
- Programming PLC experience is a plus
- Ability to drive a Hilo
