We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to support a Cardiovascular Surgery service line in Lansing, Michigan . This locum opportunity focuses on inpatient rounding and care coordination , working closely with cardiac and vascular surgeons in a Level I Trauma Center environment. This role does not include OR responsibilities .

• Assignment Dates: February 2026 - May 2026

• Shift Schedule:

  • 4-day, 10-hour workweek

  • 1 in 4 weeks on call (first call from home)

  • 1 weekend per month required

• Average Daily Census: ~15 patients per day (weekends may be higher)

• Trauma Designation: Level I Trauma Center

• Documentation System: Epic

• Pay: Inquire for details

• Inpatient rounding and management for cardiovascular surgery patients

• Support both cardiac and vascular surgery services

• Coordinate care for ICU and step-down unit patients

• Manage discharges and daily progress notes

• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams

• Provide weekend coverage independently when scheduled

• CVICU: 2-3 daily (may be up to 8)

• CV Step-Down Unit: 2-5 daily (includes discharges)

• Vascular Patients: 4-10 across ICU and floors

• Weekend Census: 15-30 patients

• Coverage needed due to recent APP resignation

• Travel expenses reimbursed per locum guidelines, including:

  • Airfare

  • Lodging

  • Rental car

  • Mileage at IRS standard rate

• Current, up-to-date CV (including locums history)

• Provider contact information

• Availability confirmation

• NPI and/or license number

• Malpractice and background documentation

• References, if available

• Scope of services, if applicable

• Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification - Board Certified (REQUIRED)
