JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. Keep records and compile reports. Perform some custodial duties on buildings, equipment, generating plants, and other utility facilities. Maintain grounds using hand or power tools or equipment.
Work is performed under general supervision as well as by procedure.
ILLUSTRATIVE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Adjust office equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Clean facilities or equipment.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways, parking areas, and storage yard.
- Cultivate lawns, turf, or gardens.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges.
- Mow or edge lawns.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Compile data or documentation.
- Attach identification information to products, items or containers.
- Mark stock items, using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or on computer.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Assist in determining proper storage methods, identification, and stock location, based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies, based on information from incoming requisitions.
- Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
- Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
- Keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
- Confer with coworkers to coordinate work activities.
- Provide assistance to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
- Assist other Divisions and Departments as needed.
- Performs other related works as required.

- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
- Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, snowplows, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Warehouse/Stockroom experience preferred.
- Must possess good mechanical aptitude and skill in handling tools.
- Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver's license, CDL with a "B" and airbrakes endorsement.
- Forklift certificate required, must be able to obtain within six (6) months of job acceptance.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification with Category 6 (right-of-way) required, must be able to obtain within one (1) year of job acceptance.
Special Requirements:
- Must have and wear footwear that provides toe protection and be certified as meeting current recommended standards for impact, compression resistance, and puncture resistance. Must cover employee's ankle and be a minimum of a 6-inch boot
- There is an expectation that this position will be available to assist during storms or other large-scale outages as needed during and outside of regular working hours.
