Job Title: Lead CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lead CNC Machinist to join our team. This role involves operating, setting up, and program editing for CNC lathes and mills. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with various materials, from plastics to metals, and may also take on a leadership role for the 2nd shift team.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and edit CNC lathe and mill programs.
• Download programs to machines, set up tooling and fixtures.
• Perform dry runs and make necessary edits after the first piece.
• Work with Haas machinery, including mills and lathes, and operate 2 and 3 axis machines, with future upgrades to 4 and 5 axis.
• Engage in leadership responsibilities on the 2nd shift as required.
• Assist with support and secondary operations, including packaging materials, deburring, and prepping parts.

Essential Skills

• 3 years of experience operating 3 axis mill/lathe.
• Proficiency in blueprint and GD&T reading.
• Experience with Fanuc Controls.
• Capability to perform a full set-up of CNC lathe or mill 3 axis.
• Ability to download programs and make necessary G&M code edits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong preference for experience with Haas machinery.
• Knowledge of live tooling.
• Familiarity with MasterCAM edit/program knowledge.
• Experience with Haas Controls.
• Leadership potential or background .

Work Environment

Work in a newly renovated facility with cutting-edge machinery, including 4 Haas mills, 4 Haas lathes, a CNC Router, and 2 Panel Saws/Shapers. The shop is in the start-up phase at the Auburn Hills location, with a long-standing machine shop in Georgia. The role includes working 1st shift from 6am to 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday, with occasional Friday shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of AUBURN HILLS, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
