Sales Manager – Automotive Dealership
We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Sales Manager to lead our New and Used Vehicle Sales Department. This leadership role is responsible for driving revenue growth, maximizing departmental profitability, developing high-performing sales professionals, and ensuring operational excellence across all aspects of the sales function.
The ideal candidate brings proven automotive sales leadership experience, strong financial acumen, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Strong financial management and forecasting skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop sales teams
Expertise in automotive sales processes, inventory management, and deal structuring
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and consumer sales practices
Develop monthly and annual forecasts for unit sales, gross profit, and departmental profitability
Establish performance objectives with each salesperson, including closing ratios, prospecting activity, unit sales, time management, and projected income
Review monthly productivity reports, forecasts, and profit performance with senior leadership
Assist salespeople in closing deals to maximize gross and customer satisfaction
Ensure 100% turnover to the Finance & Insurance Department
Direct, schedule, and oversee the daily activities of the vehicle sales team
Conduct daily sales meetings to review performance and set action plans
Provide on-the-job coaching and training to improve performance
Develop improvement plans for under-performing team members
Assist salespeople in setting short- and long-term career objectives
Monitor payroll records and productivity
Recommend new vehicle inventory levels based on market analysis and demand
Establish standards for appraising used vehicles, including vehicle history reporting and written appraisals
Ensure timely and cost-effective cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning of used vehicles
Evaluate demonstrator vehicles monthly
Plan, control, and maintain high standards for vehicle display, merchandising, and lot presentation
Communicate daily with the New Car Sales Manager regarding recent trade-ins
Ensure sales staff remains informed about current inventory
Oversee efforts to enhance dealership image and customer satisfaction ratings
Develop, implement, and monitor prospecting and follow-up programs
Facilitate new vehicle pre-delivery coordination with the Service Department
Ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures
Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing automotive sales, including consumer protection standards, FTC requirements, and information security laws
Ensure adherence to corporate policies, personnel guidelines, and ongoing required training
