Shaw's Residential Retail Sales Division is hiring a Territory Sales Manager for Hard Surface Flooring who will maintain and increase Shaw’s profitability and market share in their assigned a geographical area. This is accomplished through the development of great relationships with the flooring dealer customers based on knowledge, service, trust and integrity. Business growth will be accomplished through the implementation of major market programs and services and sample placement. This role will cover the Northern Michigan (Lower Peninsula) market. Ideal candidate location is Traverse City, MI, and will consider other home locations in Northern Michigan.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily sales calls on existing customers with special emphasis on the sale hard surface flooring products, samples, displays, adhesive, and related floor products.

  • Present products to the retail dealers, designers and end-users as well as analyze all leads provided by corporate reports.

  • Sell and construct display racks weighing 50lbs or more on a regular basis.

  • Continually prospect for viable new accounts while developing a keen awareness of what is happening within their designated geographic area.

  • Prepare reports of business transactions and sales reports showing sales volume and potential sales.

  • Prepare and communicate periodic sales reports outlining actual sales information and goals, competitive market conditions and product needs.

  • Analyze sales statistics by reviewing computer reports specific to his/her territory to aid in formulating goals and to assist dealers in promoting sales.

  • Analyze and control travel and entertainment expenditures as well as sample budget to conform to budgetary requirements.

  • Enter all customer interactions and key information into Salesforce.com

  • Responsible for selling and promoting all residential products including Shaw Floors, Anderson Tuftex, and Philly Commercial and educating customers on these products.

Requirements:

  • High-school diploma or GED and 1 year of sales experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Travel will be cover 25 counties with mostly day travel and 2-4 overnights per month required. Must reside in the market.

  • Must be able to travel in a vehicle that can carry a number of product sample boards requiring a van or an approved SUV.

  • Ability to lift samples and build displays, up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include some evenings.

  • Proven experience using a laptop computer and basic Microsoft Windows software including MS Office.

Highly preferred experiences:

  • Experience with outside sales of flooring solutions and interior design.

  • Completion of the Shaw sales trainee program can be substituted for experience.

  • Must be self-motivated and possess good organizational skills.

    Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • History of conducting oneself professionally both in the workplace and the community.

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and navigate ambiguity and a team player.

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. requires the Residential Territory Managers to operate and maintain a specific vehicle while conducting business due to the size and volume of flooring samples. The approved vehicle classes are SUV’s or van-sized vehicles and must meet a minimum storage space requirement.
