Instrumentation Technician

Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (On-call required)
Pay: $31–$34/hourÂ
Location: Portage, MI

About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician to support calibration, maintenance, and repair of analytical and process instrumentation in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on technical role where precision, troubleshooting skills, and reliability are key.

This position offers strong long-term potential, including the opportunity to convert to a permanent role.

What You’ll Do

• Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical instruments
• Maintain and enter calibration and service data into CMMS systems
• Respond to service calls and diagnose equipment issues
• Support and coordinate with vendors performing calibration and maintenance work
• Review and process vendor documentation to ensure compliance
• Assist with sourcing and ordering spare parts
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions
• Organize technical documentation and equipment data
• Work closely with lab users to minimize downtime and disruptions
• Support continuous improvement and process enhancements
• Mentor junior technicians as needed

What We’re Looking For

• 1–2 years of experience in instrumentation, calibration, or process control
• Experience working with analytical instruments or industrial equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical training, associate degree, or relevant hands-on experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• General understanding of measurement systems (SI units)
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documents
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
• Willingness to be on-call and adjust schedule as needed

Nice to Have

• Experience as a field service technician or working with instrument manufacturers
• Knowledge of GxP environments
• Experience with CMMS systems
