Executive Administrative Asssitant II
Under the supervision of the Secretary to the Board, the EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II is responsible for providing administrative support to the Board of Police Commissioners and the Board Attorney; pursuant the Board's supervisory control and oversight of the Detroit Police Department.
Examples of Duties- Conduct research for legal opinions;
- Track the status of subpoenas and request for evidence;
- Conduct research and compile documentation for DPD and BOPC policies, DPD applicant appeals, Citizen Complaint appeals, DPD and BOPC disciplines and promotions, City Charter, State Law, contractual agreements, and Michigan Open Meetings Act;
- Work cooperatively with City of Detroit Law Department;
- Provide other administrative support as directed;
Associates Degree or at least 2 years of college in paralegal or related field of study. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of substantive and procedural criminal laws for the State of Michigan;
- Maintain confidential communications;
- Ability to gather, analyze, correlate, and evaluate observed facts and evidence;
- Accurately prepare reports;
- Read and comprehend legal material;
- Work effectively with a variety of individuals and with various levels of government, law enforcement, and judicial agencies;
- Learn to use computers as an investigative resource;
- Work well under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Effectively deal with hostile persons and in adversarial environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with tact and diplomacy.
- Must be presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time employee.
- Applicants must be able to work flexible hours, i.e., evenings, weekends, and holidays.
