Accounts Payable Associate – Join a Fun, Growing Team!

About the Opportunity

Our client, a large and rapidly expanding distributor, is seeking an Accounts Payable Associate to join their energetic and team-oriented accounting department. This role plays a key part in ensuring that invoices are processed accurately, payments are made on time, and vendor relationships are maintained with professionalism and care. You’ll work closely with accounting leadership and have opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance.

What You’ll Do

Invoice Processing & Issue Resolution (55%)

  • Accurately process vendor invoices, ensuring correct coding, approvals, and payment terms.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies with the purchasing and distribution teams.
  • Support inventory and procurement teams with transaction reviews and reconciliations.

Stakeholder Communication (25%)

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve outstanding credits or balances.
  • Assist in weekly payment runs and maintain excellent vendor communication.
  • Manage the shared Accounts Payable inbox and respond to inquiries with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Provide reliable support to leadership on routine and special payment activities.

Month-End Close & Compliance (10%)

  • Prepare and record entries for month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with audits and internal reporting requests.
  • Maintain organized documentation for compliance and accuracy.

Continuous Improvement & Special Projects (10%)

  • Recommend process enhancements to improve speed, accuracy, and visibility.
  • Participate in special initiatives and cross-functional projects.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or progress toward) in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience preferred.
  • Understanding of key AP concepts including 3-way match and payment terms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; ERP experience a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • A team player with great attention to detail and a commitment to excellent service.
