A Senior IT Director leads an organization's technology strategy, infrastructure, and operations, aligning IT initiatives with business goals. They manage IT teams, budgets, and vendors while overseeing cybersecurity and system performance. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, implementing new technologies, and reporting to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures that support company-wide goals.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor IT staff, including managers and technical experts, ensuring high productivity.
- Infrastructure & Operations: Oversee all technical infrastructure, including networks, cloud operations, security, and hardware/software, to ensure maximum uptime.
- Budgeting: Propose and manage annual IT capital and operating budgets.
- Vendor Management: Select and manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure compliance with data protection laws and cybersecurity standards.
- Project Management: Drive large-scale IT transformation projects and technological upgrades.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Generally 7–10+ years in IT management, often with experience leading global or multi-site teams.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and coach staff.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and vendor management.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and the C-suite.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include PMP, CISSP, or CISM.
