Fabricator/Fitter

Company introduction

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Fabricator/Fitter to join our team. Our customer base is worldwide and very diverse, and we are known around the world for our expertise. Our environment is state-of-the-art, located in a new building with the latest in laser machines, CNC, 3D printing and welding technology.

Role summary / purpose

Each Fabricator/Fitter has a significant amount of autonomy and is responsible for their own jobs from start to finish. The candidate should be a self-starter as there is little oversight, only guidance when needed or requested. The work is never mundane due to the many different applications presented.

Key responsibilities

• Mock-up and fit small to large scale steel details together and final weld along with clean up, debur and prep for next process.
• Complete the fit and fabrication of an entire product; this is not piece work.
• Layout and drill/tap/counter sink steel plate as required by print package using medium to large radial arm drill.

Required skills

• Ability to read blueprints.
• MIG and gas welding capabilities.
• Capability to check own work against prints and meet ISO procedures.
• Hi-Low experience required.
• Must have own tools for the trade and basic set of hand tools.
• Minimum five years of experience preferred.

Nice-to-have / preferred skills

• AWS certification.
• Knowledge of basic shop machinery such as cut-off saws, drill presses, lathes, press brakes, oxygen/acetylene torch, etc.
• Heavier assembly experience.
• Experience reading calipers and knowledge of decibels.
• Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic hoses and fittings.
• Knowledge of the different types of steel.
• Knowledge of fasteners (nuts/bolts).
